Delhi: Massive BJP event to promote saffron

The Delhi BJP, adding a saffron touch to its electioneering, hosted a mega conclave of Hindu priests, saints, and seers on Sunday in the capital and celebrated the Hindu new year along with the construction of the Ram temple in Ayodhya, while AAP leaders, including Sanjay Singh and Chief Minister Arvind Kerjiwal’s wife Sunita Kejriwal, were campaigning for the INDIA bloc in Jharkhand.

The Mandir Prakoshth (BJP temple cell) arranged the religious-political gathering at the IGI stadium one month before Delhi’s election day.

Along with all seven of the party’s parliamentary candidates, prominent BJP figures such as Union Minister Piyush Goyal, Chief Minister of Uttarakhand Pushkar Dhami, Om Prakash Dhankar, the person in charge of the Delhi Lok Sabha election, and Delhi BJP President Virendra Sachdeva were also present.

Goyal praised Prime Minister Narendra Modi and said that he has contributed to the advancement of India’s tradition, culture, and religion in addition to the nation’s growth. The Union Minister said, “It is a matter of pride that India has entered an era that is making it prosperous and developed.”

The name of Lord Ram echoed over the speakers the whole time the ceremony was taking place, and the entire space—including the chairs—wore the saffron appearance thanks to the organizers’ placement of thousands of saffron flags beside the seats.

The focal point of the selfie trend was a large TV screen playing “Hum Hai Sanatani,” and the event’s speakers urged attendees to take photographs and post them to social media so that “everyone knows about the Hindu new year.”

During his speech, the Chief Minister of Uttarakhand referred to all the saints and sages in attendance as the protectors of Sanatan tradition.

Prior to 2014, the government showed little interest in celebrating any Hindu holidays, which contributed to the previous apathy toward the Hindu New Year celebrations. However, this has changed as Sanatan culture is being promoted. We are all blessed to have seen Lord Shri Ram’s darshan, as he has departed from the tent and arrived at his magnificent residence, Dhami remarked.

In the last ten years, the nation has seen “our culture, our traditions, which were under attack, have been protected by Prime Minister Narendra Modi,” according to Delhi BJP president Virendra Sachdeva.

“With this resolution, we will depart from here today. The election of 2024 will determine the future of India, and along with that, we all will keep the foundation of a developed India of 2047,” Sachdeva said. Without mentioning his political competitors, Sachdeva made a clear allusion to the current elections when he claimed that Delhi should be governed by Ram devotees, much like the Center.

The sixth round of the Lok Sabha election will take place in the nation’s capital on May 25, with results expected on June 4.
