Five males on three motorcycles approached the automobile at the Walajabad bridge at about seven o’clock in the evening and threw petrol bombs at it. When Aramudhan attempted to get down and run, the group hacked him and took off.

He was taken by passersby to a private hospital nearby. After that, he was taken to Chromepet Government Hospital, where medical professionals pronounced him dead. The corpse was taken for a postmortem by the Otteri police. Aramudhan served as the DMK secretary of the Kattankulathur union (north) and the deputy chairman of the Kattankulathur Panchayat union.
