Due to landslides, the Chandigarh-Manali highway was blocked

Following significant landslides along the Beas river in Himachal Pradesh, traffic on the Chandigarh-Manali national highway has been halted, according to authorities on Monday.

There were no reports of casualties, however.

The landslip at Pandoh in the Mandi district severely damaged over 100 metres of the national highway. On both sides of the troubled region, hundreds of cars were still stuck.

A day before, the flooded river that swamped the roadway near Aut caused traffic on the highway to be hindered.

The police have halted all vehicle travel from Kullu and beyond Mandi in both directions.

According to official sources, the shutdown of the highway, the lifeblood of the Kullu-Manali stretch, had an effect on the supply of milk, bread, newspapers, and other household goods.

The major landslip near Kamad has been impeding the alternative route connection between Mandi and Kullu through Kataula since Sunday night, according to government sources.

The Mandi and Kullu district government has recommended tourists to postpone their trip along the Mandi-Kullu route till the highway has been repaired. By this evening, the roadway is anticipated to be repaired.

Over the previous 48 hours, two individuals perished in the state, and when the monsoon rains became heavier, numerous cars and residences were destroyed.

The Mandi district, which saw flash floods, landslides, and cloudbursts, was the hardest hit.
