Eight new anti-smog weapons are deployed by NDMC to battle particulate matter

Eight of the newest anti-smog guns have been placed in areas under the control of the New Delhi Municipal Corporation (NDMC) in an attempt to step up efforts to tackle air pollution in the nation’s capital.

The GPS-enabled hydraulic devices will be installed on CNG-powered vehicles that have 7,000-liter water tanks. These GPS-enabled smog guns will be in service on the key thoroughfares in the New Delhi region from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. “Every day, these smog guns will cover 360 km,” the civic organization said in a statement.

The guns’ most notable features are their 30-meter horizontal water throw distance, 330-degree horizontal plane rotation, and 60-degree vertical axis tilt. The NDMC went on, “The droplets will have a diameter of around 10 to 30 microns and be equipped with 24 stainless steel nozzles for automatic water delivery.

Each cannon will be operated by one HMV driver, one operator, and one assistant, with an hourly water consumption rate of 1,500 liters. In an effort to raise public awareness, they will also show messages on the environment. Civic authorities further said that the firearms would be rented for a two-year term at a cost of Rs 2.87 crore.

The NDMC said that in order to reduce air pollution, it has previously used anti-smog cannons installed on a 28-ton Tata CNG truck chassis with the biggest water tank capacity of 17,000 liters.

This anti-smog pistol reduces dead miles with a continuous three-hour runtime and continuous water supply for spraying thanks to its big capacity water tank.

In addition, the civic organization said that another anti-smog gun/mist spray equipment was purchased and is now in service at Pt Pant Marg in the NDMC region.
