First candidate list for Chhattisgarh, MP, and Telangana assembly elections is released by Congress

The first list of party candidates for the Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, and Telangana assembly elections was released by the Congress on Sunday.

The party named 144 candidates for the Madhya Pradesh elections, 30 for the Chhattisgarh elections, and another 55 for the Telangana assembly elections scheduled for next month.

Former chief minister and PCC leader Kamal Nath ran for office in Madhya Pradesh from his Chhindwara assembly district. Jaivardhan Singh, the son of former chief minister Digvijaya Singh, has been nominated for the Raghogarh seat. In the previous Kamal Nath administration, he served as a minister.

Vijay Laxmi Sadho, a former Rajya Sabha member and former state minister, has been nominated to run for the Maheshwar-SC assembly seat. Jitu Patwari, a former cabinet minister, has filed to run in the Rau assembly district.

In Chhattisgarh, the party ran both deputy chief minister T S Singh Deo from the Ambikapur assembly seat and chief minister Bhupesh Baghel from his Patan assembly seat.

A second senior minister, Tamradhwaj Sahu, has been nominated for the Durg Rural Assembly seat, while Charan Das Mahant, the Speaker of the Chhattisgarh Assembly, has been nominated for the Sakti Assembly seat.

Deepak Baij, the president of the Pradesh Congress, has been nominated by the group to run for the Chitrakot-ST assembly seat. He is now representing Bastar in the Lok Sabha.

Mohan Markam, a former PCC leader who is now a minister, has been nominated to run for the Kondagaon-ST assembly seat he formerly held.

Anumala Revanth Reddy, the president of the Pradesh Congress, was put up by the party for the Kodangal assembly seat in Telangana, while Bhatti Vikramarka Mallu, the leader of the CLP, was put forward for the Madhira-SC seat.

Currently representing the Malkajgiri Parliamentary seat in the Lok Sabha is Revanth Reddy.

N Uttam Kumar Reddy, the party’s current member of parliament for the Lok Sabha, is running for the Huzurnagar assembly seat. He now sits in the Telangana Lok Sabha as the representative for Nalgonda.

Kota Neelima, a first-time candidate, has also been filed from the Sanathnagar assembly seat. She is the wife of national spokesman Pawan Khera.

Elections in Madhya Pradesh will take place on November 17, while Chhattisgarh assembly elections will be conducted in two parts on November 7 and 17. On November 30, Telangana assembly elections will take place.

Results will be made public on December 3.
