For now, the Jakhu Temple escalator trip is free

There won’t be any user fees for the recently constructed escalators at the well-known Lord Hanuman temple in the Jakhu Hills, which were designed to make things easier for pilgrims.

The escalators are now being operated on a trial basis, and the Shimla Municipal Corporation (SMC) will shortly determine the fee.

According to Tara Chand, assistant manager of Ropeway & Rapid Transport System Development Corporation (RTDC), devotees may now utilize the escalators for free. “The free service will last until the Municipal Corporation determines the appropriate fee to be paid. The escalator will also have a fee once the tariff is determined, for which users will get tickets,” he said.

The escalator was built under the Smart City Mission at a cost of Rs 7.94 crore and erected by Schindler India. It can move around 6,000 people per hour.

The escalators have safety brakes on both sides and a double drive system built in. At every level, there are paintings that illustrate the Ramayana’s narrative.

The escalators’ exterior is made of a mix of polycarbonate sheets and louvers that let in a lot of natural light.

For optimal ventilation, ACP sheets have been installed on the escalators’ bottom section. Additionally, LED lamps have been added to enhance the escalator experience for pilgrims.

CM Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu inaugurated four escalators on March 14.
