Guntur: Measures taken to start the VfH procedure on May 2

Commissioner Keerthi Chekuri of Guntur Municipal Corporation (GMC) said that sufficient preparations have been made to implement Vote from Home (VfH) on May 3.

On Monday, a training session covering VfH and EVM commissioning procedures was held for sector officers, home voting teams, and postal ballot teams. The head of the GMC said that the Election Commission of India (ECI) has implemented the Vote for Handling (VfH) option via postal ballots for two voter categories: those who are 85 years of age or older and people with disabilities (PwD) who have a minimum of 40% documented impairment.

In accordance with the clause, a cameraman and two poll workers will visit eligible voters at their homes to document the voting process. She also said that the cell phones listed in the VfH application would get an SMS prior to the visit.

To guarantee that the vote is carried out in a transparent way, the municipal head gave the officials assigned to VfH responsibilities instructions to thoroughly understand the requirements. Voters’ privacy will be protected by the installation of separate compartments and videotaped the full home voting procedure. According to Keerthi, up to five home voting teams have been established in the city to perform the VfH in accordance with the rules every time. There were additional AROs Sunil Kumar, Bheema Raju, Venkata Lakshmi, and Pradeep Kumar.
