Gurugram police: yield to emergency vehicles or face a fine of Rs. 10,000

The traffic police in Gurugram have threatened to issue tickets to drivers who fail to yield to emergency vehicles, such as ambulances and fire engines. The negligent commuters will be liable for a Rs 10,000 fine.

According to DCP (Traffic) Virender Vij, the traffic police zonal officer would sit in these cars and film motorists failing to yield to emergency vehicles on camera.

Such violators would immediately get online challans. Along with challans, the recording of such instances would be delivered to the perpetrators as evidence.

According to Section 194E of the Motor Vehicle Act, the infraction carries a punishment of Rs 10,000, as stated by the DCP. Additionally, the effort will aid in the survival of critically sick patients.

“Ambulances transporting organs for transplant to various hospitals were already given green lanes by the Gurugram traffic police, saving the lives of critically ill patients. He said, “They had given 15 green routes to ambulances delivering organs for transplants and sick patients last year.

When a fire department, ambulance, or other emergency vehicle approaches, drivers are required by Section 194E of the Motor Vehicle Act to pull over to the side of the road. Failure to do so could result in up to six months in jail, a fine of Rs 10,000, or both. This punishment can be applied while operating a motor vehicle.
