In the last 15 days, the MCD has carried out 301 demolitions in Delhi to prevent unauthorized construction

According to officials, over 301 demolition operations have been conducted by city authorities around the national capital in the last 15 days to stop illicit development.

In a statement, the Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) said that 77 sealing measures had been completed in the same time frame in its 12 zones.

According to the agency, efforts have been made to reduce the threat posed by unlawful buildings in various locations.

Over the last 15 days, these operations were carried out in a number of locations around the city, particularly in unlicensed colonies and agricultural fields, according to the statement.

In 18 areas on Wednesday, including Mohan Garden, Pushp Vihar, Madangir, Vasant Kunj, Jamia Nagar, Jaitpur, Trilokpuri, Burari, and Nangloi, demolition work was done.

According to the report, a total of 21 homes were destroyed in a way that prevented the buildings from being repaired or used for any other purpose.

The municipal council said that throughout the demolition, sufficient safety precautions were implemented. According to the report, owners or occupants have faced criminal charges in 21 incidents.

According to the statement, Discoms and Delhi Jal Board have also been directed to cut off the water and power connections to such illegal structures.

The MCD further said that the demolition push was intended to target dishonest builders who con unwitting victims by claiming to be able to offer them larger houses at better prices. The demolition campaign would go on in the next days, it was said.
