India weather update: IMD forecasts rainfall in these southern states and snowfall in Jammu and Kashmir. View the whole prediction here

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a prediction that shows the possibility of rain in many states and heavy fog in others. In the Delhi-NCR region, rain is predicted for today.

Rainfall in southern states; snowfall in Jammu & Kashmir

According to the IMD’s forecast, there may be sporadic light snowfall or rain today in Gilgit-Baltistan, Ladakh, Jammu & Kashmir, and Muzaffarabad. Punjab is expected to have sporadic light showers on December 23. The agency said that there may be sporadic light rains in Haryana as well.

The IMD said in a news statement dated December 23 that for the next five days, isolated areas in Tamil Nadu, Puducherry, Karaikal, Kerala, Mahe, and the Lakshadweep region may expect mild to moderate rainfall.

Dense fog in Meghalaya, Punjab, Haryana, and Assam

During the next several days, isolated areas of Punjab are predicted to have mornings with thick to very dense fog. On December 24 and 25, in some areas of Haryana; on December 24, in northwest Rajasthan; on December 25 and 27, in northwest Uttar Pradesh; and on December 23 and 24, in Assam, Meghalaya, Mizoram, Tripura, and Odisha, dense fog conditions are expected in the early hours.

Variation in the lowest possible temperatures

For the following two days, a minimum temperature rise of around 2°C is anticipated in Northwest and Central India; beyond that, there should be no notable changes. For East India, the minimum temperature is expected to climb by 2-3°C for the next three days, and thereafter there won’t be any notable changes.

Rainfall in the Delhi NCR area

Light rain or drizzle is predicted for today in the areas surrounding NCR (Greater Noida, Ballabhgarh), Gohana, Gannaur, Sohana, Rewari, Palwal, Narnaul, Bawal, Nuh, Aurangabad, Hodal (Haryana), Sikandrabad, Bulandshahar, Shikarpur, Khurja, Pahasu, and Gabhana, according to the RWFC New Delhi.

Additionally, it said that sporadic areas of Delhi (Jafarpur, Najafgarh, Mehrauli, Chhattarpur, IGNOU, Ayanagar, Deramandi), the National Capital Region (Gurugram), Panipat, Hansi, and Siwani may anticipate moderate rain or drizzle.

Today, New Delhi is predicted to reach a high temperature of 23 degrees Celsius and a low temperature of 9 degrees Celsius. When this story was written, the temperature in New Delhi was around 11 degrees Celsius.

According to the RWFC, today’s sky in New Delhi will be partially overcast.

The lowest temperature in New Delhi is predicted to be between 7 and 9 degrees Celsius during the course of the next several days.
