Keralan CPI(M) leader hacked to death, one said

On the grounds of a temple close to Koyilandi, a CPI(M) leader is claimed to have been fatally cut by a neighbor, according to authorities on Friday.

At around 10:30 p.m. on Thursday, P V Sathyanath (60) was assaulted by Abhilash (35) with a sharp object.

According to early allegations, there was a personal rivalry behind the murder.

A case has been filed under section 302 of the Indian Penal Code, among other laws.

There was a feast within the temple where Abhilash is said to have hacked Sathyanath. He turned himself in at the police station, Abhilash. Police stated that he was taken into prison.

In the meanwhile, after the murder, the CPI(M) has demanded a hartal in Koyilandi from sunrise to sunset.
