Lok Sabha Elections: A total of over Rs 36 lakh has been recovered, with Rs 8 lakh being nabbed near Noida during MCC

On Saturday, during the implementation of the model code of conduct for the Lok Sabha elections, officials in Gautam Buddh Nagar confiscated more than Rs 8 lakh in cash from two individuals in two different instances. The constituency has already seen more than Rs 36 lakh in cash seizures overall.

According to police sources, the first seizure happened in Greater Noida at about one in the morning, while the second one happened at around four in the afternoon.

“A flying squad team from Dadri and Badalpur police stations intercepted a car at the Dhoom Manikpur underpass during today’s checking campaign for the upcoming Lok Sabha elections,” a police spokeswoman said.

According to the spokesman, Bilal Mohammad, a resident of Muzaffarnagar district’s Budhana region, was discovered to be in possession of Rs 3,80,000—more than the amount allowed by the Election Commission during the MCC.

Later that day, Sushil Sharma, a Parthala Khanjarpur resident, had Rs 4,99,000 in cash taken from him by authorities when his car was pulled up for an examination at the Dadha roundabout by Kasna police station and members of the flying squad.

According to authorities, legal actions are under progress in both instances.

According to a senior official, after the model code of conduct was put into effect, cash totaling Rs 36,14,000 has been found in Gautam Buddh Nagar’s Noida and Greater Noida.

Authorities seized around Rs 10 lakh from a doctor in the Badalpur region earlier this week, and Rs 11,58,000 from a Delhi resident’s car on the Eastern Peripheral Expressway in Greater Noida.

polls in Muzaffarnagar and Gautam Buddh Nagar in western Uttar Pradesh are set for April 26, although there are also polls slated for April 19 in several other parts of the state.
