Jalandhar: Top officer says police have a responsibility to provide free and fair elections

Today, the Jalandhar Police Commissionerate, under the direction of Police Commissioner Swapan Sharma, staged flag marches around the city in an effort to guarantee a free, fair, and peaceful Lok Sabha election.

Giving specifics, CP Sharma said that it was the police’s responsibility to guarantee free and fair elections. Vigils had been stepped up in response to this, and flag marches were planned around the city.

He added that a sizable contingent of the Central Armed Police Force (CAPF) and police officers had been stationed in the city.

Model Town, West, Central, and North subdivisions are the four zones into which the city is separated, according to CP Sharma. Masand Chowk, Ravidass Chowk, Jyoti Chowk, Pathankot Chowk, and ADCP Zone-I Gurpartap Singh Sahota were the starting points for the flag marches, which were led by selected officials, including ADCP Zone-II Aditya, ADCP Operations and Security Chand Singh, and ACP Satinder Kumar.

Sharma said that the purpose of the marches was to evaluate security measures for the upcoming Lok Sabha elections and reassure the public of the fairness of the electoral process. SHOs, in charge of police posts (I/C PPs), station forces concerned, Emergency Response System (ERS), and Central Armed Police Force (CAPF) participated.

He added that around nine hundred police officers participated in the flag marches.
