“Lord Ram politicization”: BJP denounces web launch as “inappropriate.”

In response to today’s inauguration of the Aam Aadmi Party’s “AAP Ka RamRajya” website, Delhi BJP head Virendra Sachdeva criticized the action, stating that it was improper for AAP to adopt the moniker “Ram Rajya.” Ramvir Singh Bidhuri, the LoP for Delhi Assembly, said that the AAP was abusing Lord Ram’s name and disrespecting Hindu principles.

On the auspicious day of Ram Navami, Bidhuri denounced the AAP for politicising the name of Lord Ram, calling it an example of their hypocrisy. “AAP leaders publicly oppose the Ram temple and disparage Hindu gods and goddesses,” he said.

According to Sachdeva, until 2022, AAP leaders—including Arvind Kejriwal—opposed the building of the Ram temple in Ayodhya. But they soon reversed course and presented themselves as the temple’s supporters after seeing the country’s excitement for the temple’s development.

“Now, these corrupt leaders have launched the Ram Rajya website on the occasion of Ram Navami, which deeply hurts the sentiments of Delhi’s people,” Sachdeva said. He cast doubt on the AAP’s integrity, questioning if corruption and immorality belonged in the Ramayana they were promoting.

“This government cannot be compared to Ram Rajya,” he said. “Ministers insulting Sanatan Dharma, a minister facing rape allegations, an MLA involved in a murder case, and people struggling for basic amenities like water.”

“AAP leaders have criticized the temple construction, including Kejriwal,” said Bidhuri, “while the BJP fulfills its promises.” He said that the AAP was misleading the people and had broken its pledges to provide infrastructure, health care, and education.

“AAP is a party to several scams.”

Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal and his administration, according to Sachdeva, have a history of being involved in a number of scandals. Sachdeva recounted previous “scandals,” such as the engagement of former minister Satyendra Jain in fictitious businesses and land frauds from 2015 to 2021.

He also brought up the false bill “scam” of 2018 involving the business of Kejriwal’s colleague Surendra Bansal and the fraud of 2020–21 involving the deposit of bills into the Delhi Jal Board’s private accounts by two firms. According to Sachdeva, Kejriwal was imprisoned in 2021–2022 as a result of the establishment of a cartel involving liquor companies.
