Man Arrested in Patiala, Punjab, for Desecrating the Guru Granth Sahib

According to authorities, a 38-year-old man was detained at a gurdwara in Nardu village on suspicion of defiling the Sikh holy book, Guru Granth Sahib.

According to authorities, Joravar Singh, also known as Billu, reportedly sat atop the Guru Granth Sahib palanquin after entering the Sikh temple.

The act, which was recorded on CCTV, happened in broad daylight and sparked an instant uproar among the gurdwara’s “Sangat.”

The accused, who was supposedly mentally disturbed, was captured by several followers and turned over to the local police.

Sukhwinder Singh, a station house officer, said, “The accused has been arrested, and we are looking into the matter.” He said that a complaint had been filed under section 295 A of the IPC, which prohibits intentional conduct designed to offend someone’s religious sentiments by disparaging their religion or religious beliefs.
