Politics in Himachal Pradesh: Three Independents Join BJP, Six Rebels Are Disqualified As Congress MLAs For Cross-Voting

On Saturday, the six rebels who were removed from their position as Congress MLAs from the Himachal Pradesh Assembly for supporting the BJP via cross-voting in the Rajya Sabha election last month became members of the saffron party. Three Independent lawmakers who joined the party the day after quitting as MLAs, along with the six rebels, had also backed the BJP candidate.

Sudhir Sharma, Ravi Thakur, Inder Dutt Lakhanpal, Devendra Bhutto, Rajendra Rana, and Chaitanya Sharma are the six former Congress MLAs who joined the BJP. Notably, after the Rajya Sabha election results, the Chief Minister Sukhvinder Sukhu-led government of Congress-ruled Himachal Pradesh faced the possibility of collapsing.
