MPs are given a whip by the BJP to attend the House during the extraordinary session of Parliament

During the extraordinary session of Parliament from September 18–22, the BJP has issued a whip requiring all of its members to be present in the House.

All MPs are required to be present in the House and support the government’s position during the five sittings of the special session, according to the BJP, which issued the whip.

The government announced in a parliamentary bulletin on Wednesday that a discussion titled “Parliamentary Journey of 75 years starting from Samvidhan Sabha – Achievements, Experiences, Memories and Learnings” would take place in the Lok Sabha on September 18, the first day of the special session, despite objections from the opposition regarding the agenda.

The Advocates (Amendment) Bill and the Press and Registration of Periodicals Bill were two of the four items named in the preliminary legislative business for Lok Sabha, however it was noted that the list of legislation should not be construed as complete.

The contentious Chief Election Commissioner and other Election Commissioners (Appointment, Conditions of Service and Term of Office) Bill and The Post Office Bill, which have already been approved by the Rajya Sabha, have also been put on the government’s agenda for the special session.

The Repealing and Amending Bill, which was earlier approved by the Lok Sabha and is now waiting in the Upper House, is also expected to be passed by the Rajya Sabha.
