Mufasa director responds to online critics by labeling the movie as a component of Disney’s “Soulless Machine.”

The Lion King’s first teaser was released. Barry Jenkins’ 2019 picture, The Lion King (2019), is a prequel that will be released on large screens in December. According to the trailer, the movie provides a glimpse into the past of Mufasa, the patriarchal lion. Although the teaser has increased interest in the film among viewers, others on social media have criticized the director for caving in to Disney’s “soulless machine.” The filmmaker responded to online critics of the film on his social media accounts.

Director Barry Jenkins claims that “there is nothing soulless about The Lion King.”
Social media fans shared their first thoughts about Mufasa: The Lion King on their accounts on April 29, immediately after the release of the film’s first teaser. The prequel had a resoundingly great reception, although there was also some unfavorable discussion. Director Barry Jenkins saw something on X (previously Twitter) that attracted his eye.

The Lion King is not in any way soulless. For many years, children have been sitting in theaters across several languages and feeling communal sadness for the first time as they engage with Shakespeare for the first time. A powerful tool for fostering group empathy.

Someone said, “Barry, You’re too skilled and intelligent for this soulless machine run by Disney CEO Bob Iger. “The Lion King is not soulless,” the filmmaker said in response to the user. The Oscar-winning director went on, “For decades children have sat in theaters all over the world experiencing collective grief for the first time, engaging Shakespeare for the first time, across aisles in myriad languages.” The original 1994 film was based on William Shakespeare’s Hamlet. A powerful tool for fostering empathy among a group.

Man, hurry up. I spoke with you at the Moonlight screening at TIFF, and you said that Barry Jenkins wouldn’t have said what you just said.

You don’t have to shill like this; you may concentrate on your passion projects later on, or you can make a Disney movie for the check.

Another person brought up the director’s reaction, mentioning that they had spoken with him at the Moonlight premiere and urged him to acknowledge that he is just doing these kinds of films for financial gain. An irritated Jenkins responded to the user in a way that was appropriate by listing all of the other projects he was working on in addition to Moonlight, the picture that took home three Academy Awards. Observing a trend, he stated, “From Moonlight to the present, children have always played a significant role in all of the projects.” Similar to… BRUH. You are free to criticize the movie all you want, but are you really going to tell ME that what I said about why CAP is important to me for kids is meaningful? Nope, buddy.
