Mumbai College Continues to Operate Normally in spite of reported assault allegations

Mumbai: The Free Press Journal visited the South Bombay college after the principal filed an assault charge against a staff member to learn more about the situation’s effects on the students and courses. Still, there was no interference with its regular operations. Both the teachers and the students were in the dark about the issue.

“We are not aware of this incidence; no faculty members were present at the meeting when it occurred. A college lecturer who wished to remain anonymous said, “The college is operating as usual; no changes as such have been requested by the principal due to this matter.”

A second-year mass media student at the institution said, “This is the first time I have heard about this incident; it hasn’t been officially addressed at the college yet.”

The junior college was still in the middle of examinations, and most of the instructors were on campus supervising and correcting papers. Although the police presence at the campus was temporary, it was a prelude to the state’s impending elections. They were working too. Students wishing to apply for admission may enter the institution with open arms, and a special person is available to assist them. The college was operating normally, and the atmosphere on campus was peaceful.

The Gamdevi Police Station received the report about the alleged attack. The event happened on April 19, 2024, at a conference held in Girgaon Chowpatty’s College Office, located on the second level.

The victim was sat next to the accused during the meeting, per the copy of the FIR that the Free Press Journal was able to get. The college registrar was summoned by the principal to get a document and have it photocopied. The victim claims that the accused restrained her from leaving by holding her left hand forcefully. The accused reportedly struck her hard when she urged him to release her hand.

“I had mental shock after the occurrence. “I told my husband about the incident after I got done with my daily work and the college meeting,” the principal said in the FIR.

When The Free Press Journal asked the principal for clarification, she declined to speak.

The FPJ was informed by a senior inspector from the Gamdevi police station that the accused had received a notice. He isn’t in the city right now, however, while we look into this.
