NCP pits Ajit Pawar’s wife Sunetra against her sister-in-law in Pawar vs. Pawar in Baramati Suprema Sule

Sunetra Pawar, the wife of Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar, was designated the Nationalist Congress Party’s candidate for the Baramati Lok Sabha seat on Saturday. She will face Supriya Sule, the daughter of Sharad Pawar and sister-in-law, from the Pawar family’s native region.

Sunetra Pawar first responded by saying that she was having a good day. Shortly after the National Congress Party (NCP) led by Shivchandra Pawar released its first slate of five candidates for the Maharashtra Lok Sabha elections, she announced her candidacy via Sunil Tatkare, the head of the Maharashtra NCP chapter.

Retaining Supriya Sule from Baramati, the NCP(SP) nominated Nilesh Lanke from the Ahmednagar seat, who had defected from the Ajit Pawar camp. According to Tatkare, the conflict in Baramati is not familial but rather one of philosophy and values.

“I’m having a fortunate day today. Sunetra Pawar said to a Marathi news outlet, “I thank Amit Shah, Narendra Modiji, and all Mahayuti leaders (Shiv Sena, BJP, and NCP) for considering me capable of fighting the election.”

She said, “Voters have taken the fight in their hands,” when questioned about taking on Supriya Sule.

Sharad Pawar’s daughter, Baramati MP Supriya Sule (R), and wife Sunetra Pawar (L), who is the deputy chief minister of Maharashtra.
For the LS elections, NCP (SP) announces five candidates while keeping Supriya Sule in Baramati.
Leader of the Shiv Sena and ardent opponent of Ajit Pawar, Vijay Shivtare, opted not to run from Baramati in the next elections, abandoning his combative stance earlier in the day.

Following the split in the party created by the Pawar senior in 1999, Baramati is expected to see a Pawar vs Pawar contest unlike any other, with Sunetra Pawar, a rookie in electoral politics, leading the field.

The true struggle is between Ajit Pawar, who joined the Maharashtra government headed by the Shiv Sena in July, and his crafty and seasoned uncle Sharad Pawar, a politician.

The six assembly segments that make up the Baramati Lok Sabha constituency are Baramati town, Indapur, Daund, Purandar, Bhor, and Khadakwasla. Sharad Pawar has already won this seat many times. He has a devoted following of voters and a great deal of popular favor.

Supriya Sule, the NCP candidate, won the Baramati seat three times in the 2019 elections.

Prior to her official announcement, Sunetra Pawar had been campaigning and interacting with different social groups.

In an effort to protect his home ground, Sharad Pawar recently paid a visit to Congressman Sangram Thopte’s family and got to know his longtime opponent, Anantrao Thopte.

In Maharashtra, which sends 48 members to the Lok Sabha, the opposition Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA), which also includes the Congress and Shiv Sena (UBT), will run for 10 seats. The NCP (SP) is a member of this MVA.
