Observe SOPs to ensure a seamless election process: Kashmir IG

In order to guarantee operational effectiveness and safety, Inspector General of Police for Kashmir, V. K Birdi, directed the police and other security agencies to strictly adhere to standard operating procedures (SOPs) for the movement of security personnel around the valley on Thursday.

As he presided over a gathering of top law enforcement and security authorities to discuss the security measures required to ensure the smooth and successful holding of the next elections, he gave district heads instructions to analyze and reevaluate the current tactics in place to avert any possible acts of terror.

Officers from the Army, BSF, CRPF, SSB, ITBP, and intelligence services attended the conference.

“Strategies to protect public safety and security and uphold the integrity of the electoral process were discussed in the meeting,” a police spokeswoman said.

The statement said, “The meeting underscored the significance of reexamining and strengthening area dominance strategies to address any gaps.”

The spokesperson said, “To counter potential threats, special emphasis was laid on intensifying cordon and search operations (CASOs) and generating actionable intelligence inputs, particularly in areas near highways.”
