Panipat: RTA tells schools to meet car requirements in ten days

Following routine inspections of school cars, the Regional Transport Authority has now instructed schools to comply with all vehicle requirements as outlined in the state government’s “Surakshit School Vahan Policy” within ten days.

However, representatives of the Haryana United School Association (HUSA) also pleaded with the government not to incite fear among students by using the vehicle inspection as a cover for a security check.

According to Neeraj Jindal, Secretary, Panipat RTA, a specific effort has been started to fix the flaws in school buses. Before presenting the cars for inspection, all schools have been instructed to remove the irregularities, he added.

Holidays would be used for the vehicle inspections, and almost all schools have received letters asking them to turn in their cars for inspection. Twenty-one of the thirty-one school buses that were brought in for inspection today passed the test; the other vehicles had minor irregularities. According to him, the drivers were instructed to return the cars after making modifications.

According to Jindal, teams have examined over 200 of the 438 cars that are registered with the RTA as school vehicles.
