Principals are to retrieve scholarship monies that were deposited two or three times

The education department has asked the principals to retrieve the additional funds deposited in the accounts of the impacted students because of a technical error that occurred approximately six-seven months ago. As a result, many government school students who fall under the SC, ST, and OBC categories received the scholarships twice or three times.

Many students reportedly received the scholarship money twice or three times in their accounts as a result of a technical issue with the PFMS website that was not discovered in time to be fixed.

Remember that these scholarships are intended for students who identify as SC, ST, or OBC? Well, school administrators are now having difficulty getting the money back.

A principal expressed regret that the department was holding the school administration accountable for their perceived “callousness.” “Why should the principal be made to pay for an error that they did not make? Furthermore, a lot of pupils’ parents have denied that an additional sum was supplied, and some of them are saying that they are unable to return the money after all these months!

A total of almost Rs 22 lakh additional was mistakenly placed in several students’ accounts, according to departmental sources. There are around 1,500 beneficiaries in the district; many of them have returned the excess money, but others have chosen not to.
