Pensioners in Punjab would vote against AAP candidates

During their meeting on Sunday at Company Bagh in this city, the Punjab State Pensioners and Senior Citizens’ Welfare Association said that the Aam Aadmi Party government had broken its pledges to them and the Sanjha Mulazam Front before to the 2022 Punjab Assembly elections.

The pensioners said that despite spending a significant amount of money on media commercials and exposure, the government has not provided any assistance to them. The association leaders said that their requests remain unfulfilled, including those for the release of dearness allowance arrears, medical allowance, reinstatement of the former pension plan, and review of the pay commission report.

According to the union, nearby states like Himachal Pradesh and Haryana were paying their workers 50% of their wages in DA, which was a substantial amount more than Punjab’s 38%. The retirees also expressed dissatisfaction about having to pay professional tax of Rs 200 every month after leaving the service.

They said that in the next Lok Sabha elections, the organization will stand against the AAP candidates and educate the public about the “false and misleading” promises made by its leaders.
