Robert Vadra Hints Again That He May Run for Lok Sabha in the Face of Congress’s Wait for Amethi Candidate in “Getting Calls”

New Delhi: Robert Vadra, the spouse of Priyanka Gandhi Vadra, the general secretary of the Congress, is thinking of entering politics and has hinted that he may run in the next Lok Sabha elections.

In the midst of rampant speculation on the Congress’s nominee for the Amethi seat, Vadra said that he has been inundated with calls from party members around the country, especially from Amethi, urging him to run in the forthcoming election. This progression highlights Vadra’s increasing clout and the possible consequences of his political comeback.

Speaking to the news agency IANS, Vadra expressed the opinion that voters in Amethi would have the opportunity to “correct their mistake of electing Smriti Irani” if he were to run for the seat.

Robert Vadra said, “Not just in Amethi, but I am receiving support from party workers nationwide to actively enter politics,” in an interview with IANS. Yes, I acknowledge that because I have been doing campaigns there since 1999, the Amethi part (of his running for Lok Sabha from the seat) is gaining greater attention.

“They (the Amethi people) believe that if I run from there, they’ll have the chance to undo their election of Smritiji, which was an error. If I run, I’m certain they’ll make sure I win by a landslide. He said, “But even though Smritiji made baseless accusations against me in the past, I won’t fight to challenge someone,” to the news agency.

But Vadra went on to say that if his brother-in-law, Rahul Gandhi, chose to put in his candidacy for the Amethi seat, he would have his full support. I would stand by Rahul throughout his campaigns if he believes that he should contest from Amethi after Wayanad. I can communicate with people without actively participating in politics, too. They are aware that they can always get in touch with me if Rahul or Priyanka are unavailable,” he said.

Prior to Smriti Irani’s election in 2019, Amethi served as the Gandhi family’s stronghold for an extended period of time.

Together with the UP cities of Mohanlalganj, Lucknow, Rae Bareli, Jalaun, Jhansi, Hamirpur, Banda, Fatehpur, Kaushambi, Barabanki, Faizabad, Kaiserganj, and Gonda, Amethi will cast ballots in the fifth phase of the election on May 20.
