SAD consensus about Patiala realtor Sharma’s name

Shiromani Akali Dal will not allow its rivals an easy ride, adding further spice to the Patiala parliamentary seat. In order to secure its win, it is likely to present a candidate who is approved by Patiala leaders.

Senior SAD officials affirmed that, as of right now, two-time MLA NK Sharma is the top pick to face off against the “mighty” challengers from other parties.

“The top leadership is discussing fielding Mohali realtor NK Sharma from this seat,” according to SAD insiders. Though the possibilities are slim, the only last-minute option would be to “poach someone from outside and field him from Patiala.”

The BJP’s Preneet Kaur, a former Congress MP, and the Congress’s probable reliance on newly-joined AAP MP Dr. Dharamvira Gandhi will make for a fierce race in Patiala. Dr. Balbir Singh, the cabinet minister, has already declared his candidacy for the Aam Aadmi Party, which is in power.

According to sources, the party high leadership has already been informed that former minister Surjit Singh Rakhra is not eager to run for office again. Prem Singh Chandumajra, a former MP from Patiala, is also uninterested in the situation.

In order to “ensure all help to him in case the party fields him from Patiala,” sources suggest that even Rakhra has endorsed Sharma’s name for the ticket.

Given that Sharma is eager to run and has given the party high command his approval, it is probable that the party will reveal his name in the next few days. The fact that the party leadership in Patiala would function as a unit and that he has no resistance from any quarters is another element working in his favor, they said, calling Sharma “a suitable candidate from Patiala, where we are eyeing the Hindu vote bank.”

SAD is making every effort to keep its leaders together and produce viable candidates, while the BJP is considering bringing in leaders from other parties to bolster its Punjab cadre.

“I am prepared for whatever decision made by the party high leadership. Sharma told The Tribune, “I am prepared to take on anyone from anywhere, wherever the party sends me.” “I have party loyalty. The high leadership alone has the authority to grant me the ticket, and I will follow its decision,” the Lohgarh, Zirakpur, native Sharma said.

Preneet Kaur, the Congress candidate who won the election by over 1.5 lakh votes, was far behind SAD’s Rakhra in Derabassi, the party’s stronghold, by more than 17,000 votes. In the Derabassi Assembly segment, Kaur received 70,883 votes, while Rakhra received 87,993 votes.
