SC Excise Scam will hear Manish Sisodia’s plea for bail in cases brought by the CBI and ED on July 14

On July 14, the Supreme Court decided to hear Manish Sisodia’s bail request in the excise policy scandal and the money laundering case that followed. Sisodia is a former deputy chief minister of Delhi.

Senior Attorney Abhishek Singhvi requested that the case be heard before July 17 rather than the actual date that was posted. In order to have the matter heard quickly, he emphasized the poor health of Sisodia’s wife, who had just spent a second time in the hospital.

The bench, which is made up of Chief Justice D Y Chandrachud and Justice PS Narasimha, decided to set the hearing for July 14 in response to this motion.

Sisodia appealed the Delhi High Court’s rulings last week after it denied his bail requests in the CBI and ED charges involving the Delhi excise policy scandal.

The High Court had refused Sisodia bail in the excise policy fraud on May 30, citing the fact that he is a “high-profile” person with the ability to influence witnesses since he was the former Deputy Chief Minister and Excise Minister. Additionally, on July 3, the judge refused him bail in the money laundering case as well, citing the case’s “very serious” character.

After being detained by the CBI on February 26 for his suspected involvement in the excise policy fraud, Sisodia resigned from his position on February 28.
