SC requests Ajit Pawar faction’s response to Sharad Pawar group’s request about “misuse” of name and images

On Thursday, the Supreme Court requested the Nationalist Congress Party faction headed by Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar’s answer to a petition from the Sharad Pawar group, which claimed that his name and images had been misused for political purposes.

A bench made up of Justices K V Viswanathan and Surya Kant requested that the Ajit Pawar group respond to Sharad Pawar’s appeal by Saturday. The judge then scheduled a follow-up hearing for March 19.

“We need a categorical and unconditional undertaking that the name, pictures of Sharad Pawar will not be used,” ” the court said.

The top court had earlier ruled that the Election Commission’s February 7 ruling designating the Sharad Pawar faction’s party name as the “Nationalist Congress Party-Sharadchandra Pawar” would stand until further directives.

Additionally, it had requested the Ajit Pawar-led faction’s answer to Sharad Pawar’s appeal against the Election Commission’s February 6 ruling that recognized the group headed by the deputy chief minister of Maharashtra as the legitimate Nationalist Congress Party (NCP).
