Since 2018, Delhi has had the highest number of days with “good to moderate” air quality in April

Delhi had the most number of days with “good to moderate” air quality in April since 2018, with the exception of 2020, when a rigorous lockdown brought about a significant reduction in pollutants. This was due to the Covid epidemic.

The Commission for Air Quality Management at the Center reports that in April of this year, there were just seven days in Delhi when the air quality index (AQI) was higher than 200. Thirteen such days occurred in 2023; thirty in 2022; twelve in 2021; eighteen in 2019; and twenty-two in 2018.

In April 2024, Delhi’s average AQI of 182 was the second-lowest of the previous seven years. In 2023, it was 180; in 2022, 255; in 2021, 202; in 2020, 110; in 2019 and 222.

According to the CAQM, the city recorded a considerable drop in the average daily concentrations of PM2.5 and PM10 when compared to the same time in prior years.
