Srinagar receives a fresh layer of snow

Tuesday saw the second snowfall of the winter in Srinagar, but during the previous 48 hours, upper parts of Kashmir have had an abundance of snowfall, according to authorities here.

According to a meteorological service official, light snowfall fell in Srinagar early in the day. The city has been battered by rain since Sunday.

According to the source, Gulmarg, Sonamarg, Shopian, Gurez, Machil, and other steep parts of the valley have all reported receiving a lot of snow.

Numerous homes in the valley have sustained damage as a consequence of the windy conditions that followed the rainy weather. On social media, videos of tin roofs being destroyed by powerful winds have gone viral.

Over the previous 48 hours, Gulmarg, a ski resort in the Baramulla district, has gotten over 2.5 feet of new snowfall. This Wednesday marks the 4th Khelo India Winter Games, according to the official.

At Sadhna Top (5 feet), Razdan Top (5 feet), Tulail-Gurez (4 feet), and Sonamarg (4.5 feet), there is more than four feet of snow accumulation.

Qazigund experienced 76.8 mm of rain in the last 24 hours, compared to 29 mm in Srinagar. During the same time frame, there was also a significant amount of rain in Kokernag (26.0 mm), Kupwara (41.9 mm), and Pahalgam (40.1 mm).

Rainstorms have also hit the Jammu region, causing mudslides in numerous areas of Ramban District and necessitating the closure of the Srinagar-Jammu national route.
