State is ordered by the High Court to submit a compliance affidavit by April 18

Judge Rajbir Sehrawat today ordered the submission of a compliance statement, more than two months after the Punjab and Haryana High Court ordered the State of Haryana to adopt its recommendations for appointing judicial officials as Additional District and Sessions Judges.

Judge Sehrawat said unequivocally that the affidavit of the Chief Secretary of Haryana and the Additional Chief Secretary of the Justice Department’s Home and Administration had to be submitted by April 18.

The bench also said that in the event that the directive is not followed, the police will continue to be present in front of the court.

The High Court’s directives were issued in response to many petitions filed by Shikha and other individuals serving as Chief Judicial Magistrate and Senior Division Civil Judges in the State of Haryana last year. The contested letter, dated September 12, 2023, in which the state declined to accept the suggestion, was to be nullified, according to their request.
