Tamil Nadu: 1.02L postal votes from Tiruchy were given to LS seats after sorting

As the sorting of the postal ballots from 40 Lok Sabha constituencies—including Puducherry—that were brought to the Centralized Sorting Facilitation Center at the Tiruchy collectorate came to an end on Tuesday, 21,891 unpolled and 1,02,469 polled ballots were returned to their appropriate constituencies.

Sorting the votes and delivering them to the nodal officers of the individual constituencies was done by a group of election officials under the direction of District Revenue Officer R Rajalakshmi. The procedure lasted into the evening, during which time representatives of recognized political parties and the candidates took part.

A grand number of 93,642 postal votes were sent to the facilitation center on April 17, the first day of sorting. When sorting was finished, they were given to the nodal offices of the corresponding constituencies.

On Tuesday, 21,891 uncounted and 8,827 polled postal votes from the 40 constituencies were presented to the center. According to authorities, they were also processed and dispatched. It should be mentioned that the ECI took the initiative to establish the facilitation center for the first time in order to reduce the amount of labor required and the expenses associated with counting the mail-in votes that voters cast while they were on election duty.
