Tamil Nadu’s DMK government failed to control inflation, according to AIADMK’s Jansirani

M Jansirani, the AIADMK candidate from Tirunelveli, took aim at the DMK administration that rules Tamil Nadu, claiming that although the party had previously managed to keep inflation under check, even during the Covid-19 outbreak, it has since risen sharply under DMK rule. The politician also claimed that since the DMK took office, the state’s law and order situation has become worse while out canvassing in Ambasamudram on Thursday.

Under the Thaaliku Thangam plan, Jayalalithaa, the supremo of the AIADMK, provided newlywed ladies gold in exchange for ‘thali’. She established ‘Amma Unagavam and Amma Marunthagam’ (canteens and medical stores), gave out free bicycles to students, and extended financial support to expectant mothers. Jansirani said that Edappadi K Palaniswami, the then chief minister, carried on implementing all of those programs after her death.

She went on to say that EPS has built 2,000 small clinics throughout the state and had implemented a 7.5% reserve for students from government schools when applying to medical colleges. “He (EPS) eliminated agricultural debts totaling Rs 12,000 and established six law schools and eleven medical institutes in Tamil Nadu. Throughout the epidemic, he also managed to keep inflation rates in check. However, because of the high rates of inflation, individuals are now suffering as a result of the soaring costs. In addition, she said that the DMK administration had increased milk prices, water taxes, and property taxes.
