Teams from the Agri Dept work to avoid stubble burning

Teams at the village, block, and district levels have been established by the Agriculture Department to stop crop residue burning events in all of the state’s districts. In addition, a satellite is being used by the Haryana Space Applications Centre (HARSAC) to monitor the agricultural residue fire. The culprit who sets fire to the agricultural waste will be quickly identified thanks to this, and the farmer will get the GPS position.

According to an official spokesperson, the National Green Tribunal (NGT) has issued orders under the authority granted by Section 144 of the Criminal Procedure Code 1973, prohibiting the burning of residue or straw left over after rabi crop harvesting in the districts. These orders are effective immediately.

According to the spokeswoman, these directives will remain in effect until June 25, 2024. Officers from the departments of agriculture, revenue, and panchayats have been instructed to inform farmers not to burn agricultural leftovers.

A spokesman for the Agriculture Department said that teams had been established in accordance with the directive to stop crop wastes from being set on fire. In addition, farmers have been urged to handle crop leftovers with the use of agricultural equipment rather than setting fire to them in order to prevent the loss of crops due to fire.

According to the spokesman, burning the leftover residue or straw after the wheat crop is harvested releases smoke into the atmosphere that is harmful to the general public’s health.
