The BJP and Congress intensify their Chandigarh campaigns

The BJP and the Congress have intensified their campaigns in the city as the Lok Sabha elections are only one day away.

The 30-member executive and 300 office-bearers of the city BJP met today to evaluate the current situation and decide on the next course of action. Sanjay Tandon, a candidate for Lok Sabha, and President Jatinder Pal Malhotra were also present.

The party’s district unit, morcha, and mandal presidents and general secretaries were asked to provide an area report. They were requested to discuss local concerns as well as the mood of the people. Following the receipt of input, the group proceeded to consider the next steps for the campaign. The party leaders were also instructed to contest elections as scheduled and not to pay attention to the resignations of rival parties’ office bearers.

Later that day, at the home of Haryana Vidhan Sabha Speaker Gian Chand Gupta, Malhotra and Tandon held a meeting with farmers from the UT villages and traders from Sector 26’s grain market.

Tandon also took part in a number of “jagrans” that were held on Ram Navami eve and “bhandaras” that were held around the city today.

Sectors 24, 41-A, and Raipur Khurd hosted jagrans, while Sectors 26, grain market, and Sector 21 hosted bhandaras.

The BJP candidate emphasized the role the party played in building the Ayodhya Ram temple. “For the devotees of Ram, this Ramnavami holds particular significance as thousands of them will commemorate the birth anniversary at Ram’s birthplace for the first time in 500 years.”

At the party headquarters in Sector 35, Manish Tewari, the Congress candidate, met with delegates from 22 villages today. Speaking before the assembly, Tewari said, “The country’s average citizen is suffering greatly as a result of pervasive unemployment and crippling inflation.” All necessities are becoming more expensive, even while income is decreasing. During the UPA administration, the Congress introduced a number of policies that were beneficial to the general public, including the Food Security Act, MGNREGA, and direct subsidy transfers to recipients.

In addition, he went to a number of events held in the city to commemorate Ramnavami. In addition, he has begun scheduling consecutive meetings with leaders of political parties and other public organizations. He began his campaign by making a pilgrimage to the Panchkula Mata Mansa Devi shrine.

Shukla is scheduled to visit the city today.

Chief of the Chandigarh Congress, Rajeev Shukla, is scheduled to visit the city on Thursday. He will meet with leaders of the party to go over preparations for the vote and get their input on the state of affairs.
