A new summons is sent to the BBC UK headquarters by a Delhi court

NEW DELHI: Following the failure of earlier efforts to serve a summons, a Delhi court has issued a new one to the BBC at its UK address. In August 2024, the issue will be heard.

Noting that the summons sent to the BBC were not received, the court of District Judge Ruchika Singla ordered on April 27 that the same “be issued afresh on UK address” in accordance with an order dated July 7, 2023, on filing of PF “within seven days.”.

In a defamation lawsuit brought by BJP legislator Binay Kumar Singh, the court summoned the BBC in July 2023 and ordered the UK national broadcaster to stop airing a recent documentary on Prime Minister Modi or any other content pertaining to the RSS and Vishwa Hindu Parishad. According to the lawsuit, the documentary’s accusations against the RSS and VHP were produced with the deliberate goal of discrediting the organizations and their members. TNN
