Today, PM Narendra Modi will announce important development projects in Tamil Nadu and Maharashtra. See the full schedule

On Wednesday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi is scheduled to wrap off his two-day tour to Kerala, Tamil Nadu, and Maharashtra. He will be inaugurating and laying the groundwork for a number of development initiatives.

Modi visited the Vikram Sarabhai Space Center (VSSC) in Thiruvananthapuram on Tuesday, the first stop of his trip to Kerala. Modi launched three major space infrastructure projects there, totaling over ₹1,800 crore. Afterward, he gave four astronaut-designates “astronaut wings” and evaluated the Gaganyaan Mission’s progress.

After arriving in Tamil Nadu in the afternoon, Modi attended the Madurai event “Creating the Future – Digital Mobility for Automotive MSME Entrepreneurs.” Here, he introduced two programs designed to support MSMEs in the automobile sector in India.

In Thoothukudi, Tamil Nadu, Modi will launch and lay the foundation stone for several development projects valued at nearly ₹17,300 crore on February 28 at around 9:45 a.m.

The Prime Minister will lay the cornerstone for the Outer Harbor Container Terminal at V.O. Chidambaranar Port at the public ceremony in Thoothukudi. He will also launch a number of initiatives to make the V.O. Chidambaranar Port the nation’s first Green Hydrogen Hub Port. These projects include bunkering facilities, hydrogen-generating facilities, and a desalination facility.

In addition, the Prime Minister will introduce the Harit Nauka program, which will see the first domestic green hydrogen fuel cell inland waterway vessel built in India, and dedicate tourism amenities at 75 lighthouses located across 10 States and Union Territories.

The program will also include rail projects for the doubling of the Vanchi Maniyachchi – Nagercoil rail line, including the sections between Melappalayam and Aralvaymoli and Vanchi Maniyachchi – Tirunelveli. The purpose of these initiatives, which were created at an approximate cost of ₹1,477 crore, is to shorten the time it takes for trains from Kanyakumari, Nagercoil, and Tirunelveli to reach Chennai.

In addition, four road projects worth around ₹4,586 crore would be dedicated in Tamil Nadu. The Jittandahalli-Dharmapuri section of NH-844 will have four lanes, the Oddanchatram-Madathukulam section of NH-83 will have four lanes, the Nagapattinam-Thanjavur section of NH-83 will have two lanes with paved shoulders, and the Meensurutti-Chidambaram section of NH-81 will have two lanes with paved shoulders.

After that, the Prime Minister will make his last stopover of two days in Maharashtra.

In Maharashtra, PM Modi
The PM will take part in a public event in Yavatmal, Maharashtra, at 4:30 p.m. to dedicate and open many development projects worth more than ₹4900 crore.

During the function, Prime Minister Modi will unveil the 16th installment of around ₹21,000 crores under the Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samman Nidhi (PM-KISAN), which would directly benefit the beneficiaries via benefit transfers.

In addition, the Prime Minister will give out the second and third installments of the ₹3800 crore “Namo Shetkari MahaSanman Nidhi,” which would help nearly 88 lakh farmers in Maharashtra.

Furthermore, 5.5 lakh women’s Self Help Groups (SHGs) across Maharashtra would get ₹825 crore in funding from the Revolving Fund. Additionally, a campaign to distribute one crore Ayushman cards across Maharashtra will be launched.

In order to build 10 lakh residences between FY 2023–2024 and FY 2025–2026, the Modi Awaas Gharkul Yojana for OBC category beneficiaries in Maharashtra is also set to commence. The first installment of ₹375 crore will be given by the Prime Minister to the 2.5 lakh Yojana participants.

In addition, a number of irrigation projects under the Pradhan Mantri Krishi Sinchai Yojana (PMKSY) and Baliraja Jal Sanjeevani Yojana (BJSY) that would benefit the areas of Marathwada and Vidarbha will be initiated at a cost above ₹2750 crore.

In addition, other rail projects in Maharashtra, such as the wide gauge lines connecting Wardha and Kalamb and New Ashti and Amalner, are scheduled for launch, with a combined value over ₹1300 crore. Two rail services that link Amalner-New Ashti and Kalamb-Wardha will also be essentially discontinued.

In addition, a number of road strengthening projects in Maharashtra will be launched, such as the four-laning of the NH-930 Warora-Wani stretch and the upgrading of significant highways that link Salaikhurd-Tirora and Sakoli-Bhandara.

In Yavatmal city, the Prime Minister will finally unveil the monument of Pandit Deendayal Upadhyay.
