Today’s severe heatwave is expected to affect 63 mandals in AP

It is anticipated that the current hot weather conditions across the State will continue, with a heatwave predicted to last for the next three days. The India Meteorological Department’s Amaravati Centre prediction indicates that Rayalaseema may witness hot, muggy, and uncomfortable weather, while isolated areas in Yanam, South Coastal AP (SCAP), and North Coastal AP (NCAP) are expected to suffer heatwave conditions.

63 mandals—three in Alluri Sitarama Raju, four in Anakapalle, two in East Godavari, one in Eluru, three in Kakinada, 13 in Parvathipuram-Manyam, 15 in Srikakulam, and 22 in Vizianagaram—have been identified by the Andhra Pradesh State Disaster Management Authority (APSDMA) as having a high probability of experiencing a severe heatwave. Furthermore, a heatwave is predicted to affect 130 mandals.

On Monday, there were heatwaves in 75 mandals and severe heatwaves in 38 mandals. At 43 degrees Celsius, Nandyal recorded the greatest maximum temperature. Kurnool came in second with 41.8 degrees, Nandigama fourth with 40.8 degrees, Jangamaheshwarapuram fourth with 40.6 degrees, Tirupati and Kadapa fourth with 40.4 degrees, and Anantapur fourth with 40.3 degrees.

Above-normal southwest monsoon is predicted by IMD.

According to the IMD’s long-term southwest monsoon projection, Andhra Pradesh will have above-average rainfall from June through September. According to this projection, the mild El Niño conditions that are now dominating the equatorial Pacific area are the cause of the expected rainfall. According to climate models, the monsoon season begins with a shift to neutral circumstances, which is followed by La Niña conditions in the second part of the season.

Nandyal recorded a 43°C maximum temperature.

On Monday, there were heatwaves in 75 mandals and severe heatwaves in 38 mandals. With a maximum temperature of 43°C, Nandyal was the highest, followed by Kurnool (41.8°C), Nandigama (40.8°C), Jangamaheshwarapuram (40.6°C), and Tirupati (40.4°C).
