UPSC topper Ananya discovers fraudulent accounts under her name and files a complaint

Donuru Ananya Reddy, who recently obtained an Airline Seat in UPSC Civil Services, has filed a case at the Cybercrimes Police Station, claiming that many phony social media profiles have been created in her name with the intention of fooling people.

Following the UPSC civil services 2023 results, in which she placed third, Ananya mentioned in her official police complaint filed on April 27 that multiple social media accounts were created on platforms such as Instagram, X, and Telegram, with the account holders uploading images of her in an attempt to impersonate her.

Ananya pointed out that while the phony Instagram profiles have a sizable following, there are other Telegram channels that use her name to advertise mentoring programs, even though she isn’t actively participating in them.

In her complaint, she noted that these outlets are “even collecting money, which might harm financial interests of innocent aspirants.”

The Telangana UPSC topper also claimed that her images are being uploaded by phony social media accounts, which is a violation of her privacy.

After providing evidence of the phony social media accounts, Ananya filed a lawsuit accusing the unnamed individuals of deceit, impersonation, and invasion of privacy.

ACP Ravindra Reddy of Cyberabad Cyber Crime acknowledged that a case has been filed and that the police are looking into the number of profiles that have been made in this way as well as the amount of money that they have taken from gullible people.
