VISTAS: P Veeramuthuvel, the head of the Chandrayaan-3 project, received a PhD

The Vels Institute of Science, Technology and Advanced Studies (VISTAS) recently celebrated its 14th annual convocation in Velan Arangam, Pallavaram. On this occasion, P Veeramuthuvel, the project director of the Chandrayaan-3 mission, was awarded an honorary doctorate by the institution.

Honorary doctorates were also given to actor Ram Charan Konidela, professional table tennis player Padma Shri Sharath Kamal Achanta of India, and Dr. G S K Velu, Founder, Chairman, and Managing Director of Trivitron Healthcare.

A total of 4,555 graduates also obtained their degrees on this occasion, in addition to up to 80 gold medallists and 100 PhD scholars.

The convocation speech was given by Prof. T G Sitharam, Chairman of the All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE), who also attended the event as the principal guest.

Pro-Chancellor (planning and development) Dr. A Jothi Murugan, Pro-Chancellor (academics) Dr. Arthi K. Ganesh, and Founder-Chancellor Dr. Ishari K. Ganesh presided over the event.

The vice president of the Vels Group of Institutions is Dr. Preethaa Ganesh.
