Investigation by the Mumbai Police into ‘death threats’ against Sameer Wankhede

According to local sources, the Goregaon Police have opened an investigation into the claimed death threats that IRS officer Sameer Wankhede, the former Zonal Director of the Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) in Mumbai, received.

Wankhede claimed to the Mumbai Police that an Instagram user, who is allegedly based in Bangladesh, was sending him “death threats.” Wankhede made the allegation.

Wankhede, who is now stationed in Chennai, has emailed Mumbai Police Commissioner Vivek Phansalkar on the direct messages including death threats she got from the anonymous Instagram user.

The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) is looking into Wankhede, an IRS officer from the 2008 class, for reportedly trying to extort a sizeable quantity of money from Bollywood megastar Shah Rukh Khan.

Recall that on October 2, 2021, Wankhede oversaw a raid to seize cocaine from the opulent Cordelia Cruise off the coast of Mumbai, seizing over 17 people from the entertainment industry, including Aryan, the son of Shah Rukh Khan.

After a month in prison, Aryan Khan was released, and a high-level NCB investigation found that he had been set up in the widely publicized case.
