Well Collapse in Jharkhand: 2 Bodies Found, 3 Still Trapped; NDRF Continues Rescue Operation

An official said on Friday that two corpses had been retrieved from a well in a hamlet in the Ranchi district of Jharkhand after part of it fell in. According to Hemant Soren, chief minister of Jharkhand, five persons perished on Thursday in the Piska hamlet when a piece of a well fell in.

The death toll is yet unclear, according to NDRF authorities, since the search and rescue effort is still ongoing.

The tragedy happened in the hamlet of Piska, which is around 70 miles from Ranchi, the state capital.

After an animal fell into the well, the occurrence took place in the afternoon. Nine people entered the well to try to save it, but part of it collapsed in, according to Ranchi SP (Rural) H B Jama.

Two corpses have so far been found, an NDRF officer informed PTI. The villagers found one corpse on Thursday, and we found another one while working here. The effort to rescue the other three stranded individuals is now under process. He said that in addition to recovering the ox’s corpse, which had fallen into the well, was also found.
