When there is a “Physical Casualty,” the Punjabi government will provide exempt military personnel a grant of Rs. 25 lakh

According to Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann on Wednesday, the Punjab government would begin providing ex-gratia grants of Rs 25 lakh to members of the armed forces in situations of “physical casualty” while on duty.

Additionally, Mann said that ex-gratia grants for physically handicapped troops and financial help for former military members who are not pensioners would also be quadrupled.

At a ceremony held at the Punjab State War Heroes Memorial and Museum in honor of Kargil Vijay Diwas, the chief minister paid tribute to the Kargil War dead before making the announcement.

“Soldiers who lose their lives in a fight or conflict are granted ex-gratia. However, ex-gratia was not paid if a soldier died while doing their duties as a result of an avalanche, an accident, a heart attack, or a brain hemorrhage, according to Mann, who also indicated that his government would soon begin paying ex-gratia in these “physical casualty” circumstances.

This move was made because, according to him, troops continue to risk their lives while on duty even under these conditions. Mann said that the state government had also boosted the ex-gratia payments for troops who were physically handicapped.

According to a Punjab government statement, soldiers with disabilities ranging from 66% to 100% will now receive ex-gratia payments of Rs 40 lakh rather than Rs 20 lakh, soldiers with disabilities ranging from 51% to 75% will now receive ex-gratia payments of Rs 20 lakh rather than Rs 10 lakh, and soldiers with disabilities ranging from 25% to 50% will now receive ex-gratia payments of Rs 10 lakh rather than Rs 5 lakh.

According to the announcement, the amount of money provided each month to non-pensioner veterans of World Wars I and II or their widows has risen from the current Rs 6,000 to Rs 10,000. The state’s administration, according to Mann, “has a duty to secure the interests of these brave soldiers.”

For their courage and unselfish dedication to the country, he remarked, “the countrymen will forever remain indebted to these national heroes.” Mann said that his administration had already increased the amount of money provided to the survivors of fallen servicemen to Rs 1 crore.

Mann said that he had planned a charity event in Patiala to help the Army during the Kagil War. Mann noted that many artists, including himself at the time, had taken part in it to show their support.
