According to a report, Manchester United will formally contact Brighton about Moises Caicedo’s summer transfer

Recently, Manchester United has been looking for a midfielder. Manchester United will compete in the Champions League, thus the Red Devils must strengthen their midfield before taking part in Europe’s top club championship. According to a report from Sky Sports, the Old Trafford-based team is very interested in signing Moises Caicedo from Brighton. According to the story, Manchester United will officially approach Brighton for the Ecuadorian international after making contact with them earlier this week. Manchester United had already stated their intention to sign Caicedo. They were competing to sign the then-Independiente del Valle midfielder in January 2021. In the end, Manchester United had to back off of Caicedo. At the age of 19, he later joined Brighton in February 2021. Caicedo allegedly agreed to a £4.5 million agreement before moving to England.

After just one game for Brighton, Moises Caicedo was loaned out to Beerschot in Belgium. Caicedo debuted in the Premier League in April 2022. He has so far appeared in 53 games for the Seagulls in all leagues. In a Brighton shirt, Caicedo has two goals to his credit. After 32 games for Ecuador, Caicedo has scored three goals in international competition. Caicedo renewed his Brighton contract in March of this year, making it valid until 2027.

In his first full season at Brighton, Moises Caicedo has been in outstanding form. Caicedo’s contribution to Brighton’s success in securing a spot in the Europa League for the next season was crucial, and his brilliance was not ignored. Caicedo allegedly wanted Brighton to release him in January after receiving multiple offers from Arsenal. But in the end, the midfielder made the choice to finish the campaign at the American Express Community Stadium. Arsenal made a £70 million offer for the 21-year-old to Brighton. Caicedo is presently the focus of a three-way transfer war, according to another BBC article. Chelsea and Arsenal are two further Premier League teams who are interested in Caicedo apart from Manchester United.

According to reports, Manchester United has also shown interest in wooing Juventus midfielder Adrien Rabiot to Old Trafford. But earlier this week, the Serie A team and the French international extended their deal by one year. Juventus acquired Rabiot in 2019. Rabiot has played a total of 177 times for Juventus so far.
