Australia defeated India in the 2023 World Cup final to win the tournament for a record-breaking sixth time

The Australian cricket team, with a new star on their jerseys, achieved a record-breaking sixth victory in the coveted Cricket World Cup 2023. In front of 130,000 spectators at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad, the Men in Golden defeated the Men in Blues by six wickets.

With a huge century in the final (137), Travis Head became Australia’s hero and joined an exclusive group that included Ricky Ponting and Adam Ghilchrist. Shubman Gill and KL Rahul were among the three wickets that Mitchell Starc claimed throughout the game. Australia won with a stand of 192 runs between Marnus Labuschagne and Head.

Rahul scored the most runs for India, with 66. In the World Cup, Virat Kohli reached his sixth straight fifty runs before being out at 54.

With an extra-bouncing ball, Australian captain Pat Cummins silenced a boisterous crowd by removing Virat Kohli. While KL Rahul’s cool-headed 66 was important, the Indians could muster only 13 fours in the whole innings. Up until Travis Head’s incredible catch changed the course of the match, Rohit Sharma’s aggressive 47 gave the team momentum.

Australia fielded well, restricting India’s batting pair with well-placed blocks by Cummins. In the game, Cummins’ leadership and judgment were particularly noteworthy. On a slow track, Pat Cummins chose to field first after winning the toss.

Despite a strong start, Indian batters battled on a difficult surface, scoring a below-average 240 runs. Prominent player Shreyas Iyer was removed after only four runs, while promoted player Ravindra Jadeja scored a mere nine. Although Suryakumar Yadav managed to score eighteen runs, he was removed from the game.

Australia had a rough start, losing three wickets for only 47 runs, mostly because to the bowling mastery of Jasprit Bumrah and Mohammed Shami. However, as the ball ceased to swing, Australian hitters took advantage of Indian bowlers and pacers in equal measure to establish a winning combination.

There are currently six World Cup victories for Australia: 1987, 1999, 2003, 2007, 2015, and 2023.
