“Congratulations to Virat Kohli,” the BCCI Says in Honor of the Former Indian Captain’s 500th Match. Experts Bow Down

When Virat Kohli steps out at Trinidad’s Queen’s Park Oval for the second India versus. West Indies Test, another incredible record will be added to his resume. The former captain of India will compete in his 500th match for his country, joining the likes of famous MS Dhoni, iconic Sachin Tendulkar, and current head coach Rahul Dravid on an exclusive list of Indian hitters.

Only four batters have played 500 or more international games for India, and Kohli will join them. With an astounding 664 appearances since his 1989 debut, Sachin tops the lists. Dhoni comes in second with 538 games played, followed by Dravid (509).

The BCCI posted a special homage to the former Indian skipper on Twitter on Wednesday morning before reaching the milestone. In a letter congratulating Kohli on his accomplishment, the Indian cricket board wrote:

“500 things to love about the adventure! I’m happy for Virat Kohli as he plays in his 500th international game for #TeamIndia.

gurus applaud Kohli

The star Indian hitter, meanwhile, received nothing but acclaim from the game’s specialists. Virat Kohli received praise from the Jio Cinema commentary team, which also included Aakash Chopra, Pragyan Ojha, and Wasim Jaffer.

They said the following:

“Virat Kohli’s devotion to the game is quite clear and defines him, in a sense. His life, which has only ever been about cricket, has been lived like a monk. He became a brand ambassador for the beautiful game as a result, and that is how he got to where he is now. We are all appreciative of what he has done for cricket in India and beyond, Chopra remarked.

“This is a remarkable accomplishment. Few people succeed in achieving this feat. Pragyan Ojha added, “I hope this serves as a motivator for him and he keeps playing excellent knocks for the nation and maintains his strong form.

“Not everyone is given the opportunity to play 500 games, and his longevity is commendable – the way he has maintained his fitness and consistency, continued to play well, and achieved 75 hundreds in international cricket. It represents his self-control, commitment, and tenacity. Although he has played 500 games, he still has a lot of cricket left in him. He serves as an example for all cricket players throughout the globe, according to Jaffer.
