Ex-MI Star Says Nothing After a Viral Comment Says “Brain Will Explode If You Play There”

Former Indian batter Ambati Rayudu recently discussed how the cultures of the Chennai Super Kings (CSK) and Mumbai Indians (MI) vary. Six-time IPL champion Rayudu began his career with MI, where he took home three championships in 2013, 2015, and 2017. After leaving the team to join CSK, he went on to win three more championships in the IPL, including one in the last year before he announced his retirement. Playing for MI is a little more difficult than doing the same for CSK, according to Rayudu, who shared his thoughts on the different cultures on the two teams.

“CSK emphasizes the process more when discussing culture. They don’t give the outcomes much thought. It is not the outcomes that are causing their mood swings. MI is a little unique. MI’s culture is centered on winning, and winning is everything. Their way of saying “win is a must” is known as jeetna hi hai. There is no negotiating with winning, Rayudu told ESPNcricinfo.

Even though CSK offers a much superior atmosphere for a player’s growth, Rayudu said that playing for MI might cause “your brain to explode.”

“Despite having two distinct cultures, CSK and MI both put in a lot of effort at the end of the day. CSK, in my opinion, has a far better atmosphere. You have more time to play there. “Your brain will explode if you play MI for an extended period of time,” he said.

In an attempt to clarify himself, Rayudu said that his remarks against MI “were taken out of context” in a post published on X.

“My remarks on Mumbai Indians were misconstrued. All I was trying to say was that because of the unique methods used by Mi, players are shaped, succeed, and develop into fully realized players. Their track record demonstrates the kind of talent that Mi has generated for India. I’ve enjoyed my eight years at Mi. I’m really appreciative,” Rayudu wrote on X.

Rayudu also pushed the team to win some games since MI is having a hard time winning this season under new captain Hardik Pandya.

He added, “MI, please win some games soon,” in the message.
