Asia Cup: Team India will restart with a two-goal deficit after the weather disrupts the Pakistan encounter

Rain forced the bulk of play on Sunday in the highly anticipated Asia Cup Super Four match between India and Pakistan to be postponed to a second day.

Despite the diligent effort of the ground personnel at R Premadasa Stadium, playing cricket continued after India reached 147/2 from 24.1 when clouds began to shower rain on Sunday.

According to the ICC, every attempt would be taken to finish the game on the reserve day with KL Rahul (17*) and Virat Kohli (8*) resuming for India as the not out hitters on Monday.

This vital Super Four game now has a reserve day, making it the only game in the Asia Cup—along with the championship match—with the possibility of continuing on a different day.

Following their amazing victory against Bangladesh in the first game of the tournament phase, Pakistan now holds the top spot in the Super Four table, while India has to win to stay in contact with their archrival and Sri Lanka.

The Super Four match between India and Sri Lanka is scheduled to take place at the location on Tuesday, meaning that India would likely wind up playing on three consecutive days in Colombo.
