Indian team’s mantra for the ODI World Cup from Sourav Ganguly

India has been playing well lately, according to Sourav Ganguly, and he believes they must continue in this vein if they want to reclaim the ICC ODI World Cup championship. India is hosting the ODI championship for the first time since 2011, when they took home the trophy for the second time ever.

As seen by their strong results during the Asia Cup and a three-match ODI series against Australia at home, India, led by Rohit Sharma, is aiming to win their third ODI global championship.

Former India captain and current BCCI president Ganguly is optimistic that the squad will maintain its recent success as they prepare for the competition.

“This World Cup is going to be huge. An important competition is the World Cup. It is exciting because of how brilliantly India has been playing. For the next 45 days, we hope they play the same excellent cricket, Ganguly was quoted as saying in media reports.

India made one alteration to their 15-man final world cup roster on Thursday. Axar Patel was injured and was replaced by Ravichandran Ashwin, who made his ODI return during the Australia series.

“Axar Patel was injured during India’s Asia Cup Super Four match against Bangladesh, straining his left quadriceps. He was unable to heal in time for the World Cup. As a consequence, the all-rounder who plays spin bowling missed the Asia Cup championship game, according to an ICC press statement.

On October 8 in Chennai, India will play host to Australia, a five-time winner, before facing Afghanistan in Delhi.

On October 14, the squad will travel to Ahmedabad for a historic encounter with Pakistan.

The final will be contested on November 19 and will include the top-four teams from the round robin round.
