IPL 2024: After Delhi Capitals vs. Rajasthan Royals, who won yesterday, the points table, and the orange and purple caps

NEW DELHI: On Thursday in the Indian Premier League, Riyan Parag guided the Rajasthan Royals to an exciting 12-run win against the Delhi Capitals.

Rajasthan’s victory was anchored by Parag’s undefeated 84 off only 45 balls, which carried on the early trend of home teams claiming dominance in the lucrative T20 competition. With this victory, Rajasthan won their second straight game, keeping their spotless record at home this season while visiting teams have failed to win in any of their nine games.
In his 100th IPL match, Delhi Capitals captain Rishabh Pant won the toss and chose to field. Watching Parag’s barrage, the youthful batsman hammered seven boundaries and six sixes to lead Rajasthan to a commanding total of 185-5.

Rajasthan had difficulties early in the batting power play, losing important wickets like Jos Buttler and Yashasvi Jaiswal; however, they were stabilised by Ravichandran Ashwin’s cameo of 29 off 19 balls with Parag. After that, Parag assumed command and led a ruthless attack against the speed bowlers of Delhi, especially Anrich Nortje and Mukesh Kumar, as Rajasthan amassed 77 runs in the last five overs.
The Australian combination of David Warner and Mitchell Marsh from the Delhi Capitals got off to a fast start going after Rajasthan’s massive score, but Nandre Burger’s double blows stopped them. After hitting Ricky Bhui with a sharp bouncer, Burger removed Marsh with a scorching delivery, setting up an easy catch for Rajasthan captain Sanju Samson.
The Delhi Capitals lost despite a heroic performance by Tristan Stubbs, who scored an undefeated 44. Rajasthan’s Avesh Khan bowled a masterful last over, giving up only four runs to ensure his team’s triumph.
